Betsy

Betsy has been a published author since 1973. She is the author of numerous non-fiction articles in the size-acceptance movement and other areas, and one hardcover book. She has also penned one screenplay, two teleplays, and hundreds of poems. She is a member of The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance (NAAFA), a BBW (Big, Beautiful Woman) model,  professional photographer, and size-rights advocate. Her most recent book is, "The Big, Happy Bear," which was written to help fat children with issues of self-esteem.

Betsy comes from a long line of writers—her father was a successful television writer, her grandfather wrote the editorial page for Hearst's Journal American, and her great-great-grreat grandfather was a "poetmeister" (post master) in Germany. Her mother was an advertising copywriter and teacher. Her daughter, Raven Demers, is a published poet.

A member of Mensa (the high I.Q. society), Betsy was born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in northern New Jersey and California. She has traveled all over the U.S., most of Europe, Brazil, and the Bahamas. She lived in Monte Carlo, Monaco for one year and spent another living near Cape Town, South Africa. She was one of the top 10 women professional chessplayers in the United States. She once spent two blissful days swimming with dolphins.

She is currently living in a small, beautiful village in central Germany with her husband, Stephan—a German chemist and inventor—and their two cats, Ustinov and Vincent.

In 1999, I found my soulmate, Stephan. He is a kind,
loving, sexy, intelligent German chemist and my angel.
