Activism & Discrimination

Boycott Southwest Airlines!!!

On June 26th, 2002, Southwest Airlines began charging fat people for two seats instead of one! They are asking us to pay for their discrimination in building planes with seats too small to accommodate all of their customers in the first place! They are trying to capitalize on the fact that most Americans are fat-phobic, and, as even they admitted, they don't get many complaints from fat people. They saw a way to make a quick buck by attempting to humiliate fat people, knowing, I'm sure, that most fat people will buy 2 seats in advance rather than risk harassment and embarrassment at the counter. Please don't let them get away with this!

Consumer advocate David Horowitz (Fightback!) is joining us in our cause, and will boycott them himself until Southwest reverses their discriminatory position. He has even volunteered to walk in a picket line with us (in the works). Mr. Horowitz has also offered the use of his www.fightback.com website to vent and post our comments regarding the Southwest issue.

Since Southwest doesn't have an e-mail on their site, Mr. Horowitz has offered to send your posts via snail mail to Southwest.  If would like to utilize this opportunity - go to the fightback.com website, and click on the feedback forum.  You will have to register to post, but the more posts we have for him to send, the better. Sandy Sabo's initial post is under "Airlines"in the feedback forum - that is where you would post a response to be sent to Southwest.
